AI Visibility

Track Your Business’s AI Visibility Across Google AI, ChatGPT & Gemini

See who AI recommends when customers ask who to choose. Measure how often your business appears for local buying questions, who appears instead, and which pages present mention and citation opportunities.

Connect the recommendation to the question behind it. Compare your visibility across AI experiences, investigate relevant sources, and follow changes over time.

AI search and business discovery

Your next customer may meet your business in an AI answer.

A customer can ask for businesses to compare, the best value, or a company to contact. The answer can introduce a shortlist before they visit any business website.

Google AI Overviews place generated summaries within Search. AI Mode supports conversational questions and follow-ups. ChatGPT and Gemini provide their own answers and recommendations. Your visibility can differ across all four.

Vicin checks buying questions in your business category and local area so you can see whether your business joins those recommendations.

Three views of visibility

Frequency, share, and position answer different questions.

Being recommended often, taking a larger share of recommendations, and appearing near the top each describe a different part of your AI presence.

Mention Rate
The share of measured answers that recommend your business. This tells you how often you appear in the recommendation list.
Share of Voice
Your recommendations as a share of all business recommendations in the measured answers. An answer may recommend several businesses, so this can differ from Mention Rate.
Average Position
Your average place in the ordered recommendation list, calculated only when you appear. A lower number means a higher position, with #1 first.

Vicin shows how many answers each measurement uses. A business named only in an answer’s text, outside its recommendation list, is kept separate from a counted recommendation.

Compare AI experiences

A recommendation in ChatGPT does not describe your visibility everywhere.

Review all four AI experiences together, then select one to see its measurements, questions, recommended businesses, and source opportunities.

Google AI Overviews and AI Mode can produce different responses and supporting links. ChatGPT and Gemini can recommend different businesses for the same buying question. Separate views help you see where the gap occurs.

Google AI Overviews
Your measured recommendations in generated overviews within Google Search.
Google AI Mode
Your measured presence in Google’s conversational search experience.
ChatGPT
Your business in the recommendation lists returned for the monitored questions.
Gemini
Your measured recommendations in Gemini answers to those questions.

Buying questions and answer evidence

See which questions include your business.

A business can appear for value-related questions while missing from reputation or comparison answers. Question-level measurements make those differences visible.

Vicin asks questions based on your business category and location, with a service question when a Business Profile service is available. They cover selection, value, trust, recent reviews, urgency, and comparison.

Open a question to read a short excerpt of each AI’s latest answer and the businesses it recommended, in order. Your business is highlighted when it appears.

Who AI recommends

Know who appears when your business does not.

Compare the businesses recommended for the monitored questions using the same Mention Rate, Share of Voice, and Average Position as your own business.

The gap may be how rarely you appear, even when your position is strong once included. Reading frequency and position together helps you distinguish those situations.

These are the businesses found in the measured AI recommendation lists. They can differ from the businesses you see competing in Google Maps.

Mention & Citation Opportunities

Find the pages appearing around your buying questions.

See pages Google ranks and pages the AI experiences cite for the monitored questions. Lists, directories, articles, and discussions can present places to investigate for a legitimate business listing or mention.

Each opportunity connects the page to the questions that surfaced it. See where it was found, including Google placement or an AI citation, and how many times it appeared in the measured results.

A page found across several questions deserves a closer look. Open it, assess its relevance, and decide whether accurate business information, a listing, or editorial coverage belongs there.

A Google result and an AI citation are different evidence. Neither proves that a new listing or mention will produce an AI recommendation.

Changes over time

Review the last 30 or 90 days. Each metric has a chart with a separate line for each AI experience and a measurement for each saved check.

A gain in one system can disappear inside a combined figure. Separate lines help you see which experience changed and whether recommendation frequency, share, or position moved.

Compare available periods and return to the question evidence behind the numbers. Changes show what the measured answers recorded; they do not establish which marketing action caused the movement.

Are you included more often?
Follow Mention Rate to see whether your business appears in a larger share of measured answers.
Is your share changing?
Follow Share of Voice alongside the other businesses recommended in those answers.
Are you appearing higher?
Follow Average Position when your business is recommended. Lower positions appear higher on the chart.

From measurement to investigation

Use the question to guide your next investigation.

Business owners, marketers, and agencies can use the same evidence sequence. For businesses with several locations, review each location in its own category and market context.

  1. Locate the visibility gap

Review the three metrics, select an AI experience, and open the questions where your business appears less often.

  2. Investigate the sources

Compare recommended businesses and open relevant opportunity pages. Assess where accurate information about your business could belong.

  3. Review later measurements

Follow subsequent checks to see whether the recorded visibility changes. Keep the result connected to the questions and AI experience measured.

How does Vicin support GEO and AEO work?

Generative engine optimization, or GEO, concerns visibility in AI-generated answers. Answer engine optimization, or AEO, concerns visibility in answers. Vicin supplies recommendation measurements and source opportunities you can use to assess that work. You decide which opportunities to pursue.

What does AIO mean on this page?

Here, AIO refers to Google AI Overviews: generated summaries within Google Search. Vicin measures AI Overviews separately from Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, and Gemini.

Why do Mention Rate and Share of Voice differ?

Mention Rate measures the share of answers that recommend your business. Share of Voice measures your share of every business recommendation in those answers. One answer can recommend several businesses.

Can I inspect the evidence behind a question?

Yes. Open a monitored question to see a short excerpt of each AI’s latest answer and its ordered list of recommended businesses. Vicin highlights your business when it appears.

Are all opportunity pages AI citations?

No. Opportunities include pages found in Google results and pages cited by the measured AI experiences. The discovery labels distinguish Google placement from an AI citation.

Does a citation opportunity guarantee more recommendations?

No. It identifies a source worth investigating. Relevance, accurate representation, and the site’s own requirements determine whether pursuing a listing or mention makes sense. Subsequent measurements show what changes in the recorded answers.

Does every Google search produce an AI Overview?

No. Google shows AI Overviews when it determines they add value to the search. Vicin distinguishes an absent overview from a measured answer that did not recommend your business.
